It is becoming increasingly clear that we’ll need all the fortitude we can muster to remain strong and productive as we navigate today’s global and spiritual crisis, unfolding in a climate of chaos and injustice.

Chaos is a catalyst for change, but it also opens up opportunities and possibilities, provided we are resilient. Resilience is crucial, and understanding and strengthening this quality can improve our lives and the lives we touch, regardless of our circumstances, when we use it to help create a more just and peaceful world.

NOTE: This Zoom Workshop, Resilience: Continuing the Conversation – Strategies for Strength, is tailored for those who were unable to attend the half-day (in-person & via Zoom) workshop, "Resilience: Measuring Your Strength," on Tuesday, September 30th, 10 am to 2 pm, as well as continuing the conversation for those who did attend.

JOHN “DIVINE G” WHITFIELD

SPECIAL GUEST

John Divine G. Whitfield’s life story is a profound testament to resilience, transformation, and the power of the arts to rehabilitate and empower. Wrongfully incarcerated for 25 years, Divine’s journey from despair to hope inspired the Oscar-nominated film Sing Sing. During his incarceration, he became deeply involved in a theater program called Rehabilitation Through the Arts (RTA), which played a pivotal role in his personal growth and the rehabilitation of many inmates. Despite the immense injustice he faced, Divine chose to channel his experience into positivity, becoming a published author, playwright, and advocate for justice. After release, he continued his mission to empower others, notably through RTA’s extraordinarily low recidivism rate. Divine’s story highlights the importance of choice, education, art, and community support in overcoming adversity and injustice.
